The excess and amount of cover available varies depending on the level of travel insurance you buy. Check the policy wording to see the full terms and conditions.

What’s not covered?

Each provider will have different things it can or cannot include in a policy. However, there are some situations travel insurance will not cover. For example:

  • You cannot cover events or reasons to claim which took place before you booked the trip or purchased insurance. Insurance exists to cover unexpected events outside of the insured’s control
  • Claims which are less than the excess for that section of cover. For example, you cannot claim a £40 lost item if your baggage excess is £60
  • All of our travel insurance policies include cover for cancellation of your trip. There may, however, be some exclusions. For example, you won’t be covered to cancel if you decide not to go

Frequently asked questions on Singapore travel insurance

Can I buy Singapore travel insurance after departure?

No, you will need to buy travel insurance before leaving the UK. This ensures you’re covered from the start of your journey. This includes any unexpected issues that could arise on your way to Singapore.

Do I need travel insurance for Singapore?

While it is not a legal requirement, travel insurance is highly recommended for Singapore. Although Singapore has excellent healthcare, medical treatment can be costly for tourists. Our travel insurance helps cover unexpected medical expenses, trip disruptions, lost belongings, and more.

How much does Singapore travel insurance cost?

The cost of travel insurance for Singapore depends on a few factors. This includes things like:

  • Your age. Your age makes a difference, with prices a bit higher for older travellers. This is just to make sure you have the right cover for your needs.
  • Length of stay. Longer trips generally mean a higher premium, as there’s more time for things to go wrong. If you’re planning multiple trips this year, consider multi-trip cover. It can be more convenient and might save you money.
  • Any pre-existing conditions. Declaring conditions like asthma or diabetes could increase the price, but it’s worth it to make sure you’re fully covered. Knowing you’re prepared for any medical needs means you can relax and enjoy your trip!
  • Policy add-ons. Options like gadget cover, or cruise insurance cost to add on. Are you bringing tech like a phone or laptop? Planning some water sports, or maybe even cruising from Singapore? These add-ons can keep you covered.

Does GHIC cover treatment in Singapore?

No, the UK’s Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) does not cover healthcare costs in Singapore. Only EU countries accept GHIC. That’s why travel insurance is essential to cover medical expenses in Singapore. For travel to Singapore, you’ll need to buy worldwide travel insurance.

Can I get cover for high-risk activities in Singapore?

Yes, many policies offer optional cover for high-risk activities. This includes scuba diving, water sports, and more. Be sure to add the right level of cover if you plan to dive into these activities.

Does Singapore require vaccinations before entry, and does insurance cover this?

At this moment in time, Singapore doesn’t require specific vaccinations for UK travellers. This includes no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements. However, you must have a certificate to prove you’ve had a yellow fever vaccination if you’re coming from a country listed as a transmission risk.

For full details about medical entry requirements, see TravelHealthPro’s Singapore guide.

Additionally, make sure you check UK Gov travel advice to ensure you stay updated.
